Xi Jinping is scared of this cartoon: Pooh Bear merchandise being sold in Japan

The cartoon character ‘Winnie the Pooh Bear’ has joined protests against China’s Covid policy. Disney stores in Japan sell T-shirts and other merchandise featuring children’s favorite cartoon Pooh Bear holding a white sheet in his hand.

This is being seen as supporting the protesters in China. In fact, during the Covid restrictions, people in China protested with white papers in their hands. Since then, it has become a symbol of protest against Xi Jinping.

Making Goods Under the Disney MADE Program

Various merchandise is being sold online, including t-shirts, bags, jackets, and mugs, with a photo of Pooh Bear holding a white paper hand. All this stuff is being made under Disney’s MADE program. In this, people can change any Disney item as per their wish. However, so far, Disney has not given any statement on this matter.

The dispute between Xi Jinping and Pooh Bear is old

It was a matter of 2013. At that time, the then US President Barack Obama had met Xi Jinping. A photo of this meeting of both became quite viral on social media. It featured Xi Jinping as Pooh Bear and Obama as Pooh’s friend Tigger. Since then, people have started comparing Xi Jinping with Disney’s cartoon character Winnie the Pooh Bear.

This kind of joke is banned in China.

Then something similar happened in 2014 as well. At this time, a picture of Xi Jinping’s meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe came to the fore. So people met the same fate and made Xi look like Pooh Bear. Seeing the matter increasing, China banned such funny posts in 2017. Content linking Xi Jinping to Pooh Bear was also declared illegal. Not only this, in the year 2018, the film made on this cartoon was also banned in China.
